Time and time again I seem to forget how to install windows 11 in an Hyper-V environment.
When you create a new windows VM, nothing points out you have to enable TPM, have to select at least 2 processors and allocate enough memory. And, If you forget any of these, you get the cryptic error message:
This PC doesn’t meet the minimum system requirements to install this version of windows.
But even on real hardware you would get the same cryptic message if some requirement where not met.
In this case the requirements are:
- You must allocate at least 4GB of memory to the VM
- You must enable the TMP option under security
- You must at least allocate 2 virtual CPU’s to the machine
Then, and only then, will windows 11 install properly.
